About Us
The
Halifax Nalandabodhi Study Group is dedicated to the study and practice
of Buddhism, a science of mind, under the
direction of The
Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche.
The Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche is acknowledged
as
one of the foremost scholars of his generation in the Nyingma and Kagyu
schools of Tibetan Buddhism. He is known for his sharp intellect,
humor, and the lucidity of his teaching style. Fluent in the English
language and well-versed in Western culture, Rinpoche is also an
accomplished calligrapher, visual artist and poet.
Rinpoche
is a prolific teacher and author. His teachings have been widely
published in Bodhi Magazine and other venues. In 2001, Siddhi
Publications released Penetrating Wisdom.
Rinpoche has three books in print, Penetrating
Wisdom: The Aspiration of Samantabhadra , Wild
Awakening and Mind
Beyond Death, which
has been described as an indispensable guidebook through the journey of
life and death.
Rinpoche
has dedicated himself to the preservation of traditional Buddhist
traditions in the East, and to the support the establishment of a
genuine transmission of Buddhism to the West.

Bodhi Heart
Bodhi
Heart - The Tibetan Refugee Support Project.
Monasteries, such as Rumtek in Sikkim, where Ponlop Rinpoche
was born, have limited resources and cannot fully support all of the
young Tibetan refugees who seek their traditional training.
This project provides direct financial assistance
to young monks and nuns in India, Nepal and Tibet who are committed to
continuing their study and practice of the pure traditions of the
dharma.
Support is also directed towards the
education of refugee children in Indian and Nepali communities. These
donations cover tuition costs and books. Schooling is a
significant factor in the lives of these children and is often their
only means to learn the skills that will allow them to be independent
later in life, to assist other family members and their exile
communities.
Older lamas with serious medical conditions are
receiving assistance as well. Several monks in three-year retreat will
be supplied with food, warm clothes, and practice materials.
For information on Bodhi Heart, or to sponsor a
Tibetan refugee monastic or child, please contact one of the
